myAO Trauma Editor’s Pick on trifocal femur fracture
In this month’s Editor’s Pick, myAO is featuring the winning case of the Bone Voyage competition. We thank all the competition participants for sharing their most challenging and interesting cases and for their dedication in always providing feedback and support to their peers.
Now, we invite you to review the case that generated the most engagement from the myAO community and which was submitted by Dr. Giovanni Longo from Italy. The case presents a 73-year-old male involved in a high-speed car accident, who suffered severe trauma including a basal pneumothorax, multiple rib fractures, and a complex trifocal fracture of the left femur. The patient also presented with arterial hypertension and was found to have significant pelvic tenderness and a deformity of the left thigh. Emergency imaging revealed extensive injuries, highlighting the challenges of managing multiple fractures in a rare case of trifocal femur fracture.
We invite you to review this case, engage with it by applauding or sharing your comments and congratulate the winner. You can also save the case to your CaseFolio for future reference by clicking on the bookmarking icon.
