myAO Editor’s Pick on correction of pectus excavatum |
In this month’s Editor’s Pick, myAO is featuring the winning case of the myAO VET competition. We thank all the competition participants for sharing their most challenging and interesting cases and for their dedication in always providing feedback and support to their peers. Now, we invite you to review the case that generated the most engagement from the myAO community, which was submitted by Hüseyin Koray Akdeniz from Kuwait. This case involves a 1.5-year-old Scottish mix cat diagnosed with pectus excavatum and associated cartilage rib deformity leading to respiratory difficulties. The cat underwent surgical correction with a sternum plate under inhalation anesthesia. Rhinoplasty was also performed to address a stenosed airway. Post-surgery, the cat is thriving, showing no clinical symptoms and enjoying an active lifestyle. We invite you to review this case, engage with it by applauding or sharing your comments and congratulate the winner. You can also save the case to your CaseFolio for future reference by clicking on the bookmarking icon. |
