myAO Editor’s Pick on facial asymmetry correction |
In this month’s Editor’s Pick, myAO is featuring the winning case of the myAO CMF competition. We thank all the competition participants for sharing their most challenging and interesting cases and for their dedication in always providing feedback and support to their peers. Now, we invite you to review the case that generated the most engagement from the myAO community, which was submitted by Guilherme Louzada from Brazil. This case presents a patient with significant facial asymmetry who underwent a unilateral wing osteotomy for correction. Initially prepared for orthognathic surgery, financial challenges delayed her treatment. Using a customized cutting guide and virtual planning, the procedure successfully balanced the mandibular base, resulting in a harmonious facial contour and stable occlusion at the two-week follow-up. We invite you to review this case, engage with it by applauding or sharing your comments and congratulate the winner.
