myAO clinical roundup on Total Hip Arthroplasty |
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is widely recognized as one of the most successful surgical procedures, with many considering it as “the operation of the century” [1]. Advancements in implant durability and fixation methods have facilitated a more precise and accurate restoration of the hip’s anatomy during THA [2] . The principles of performing a primary THA are demonstrated in videos 1 and 2. For the role of short stem in THA we would like to present video 3 and some of the principles of Revision THA are highlighted in video 4. In cases where the hip joint has a complex and distorted anatomy, the goal of THA extends beyond simply restoring the patient’s original anatomy. Instead, the objective is to reconstruct the hip joint to resemble a normal anatomical structure. These cases require an individualized approach, taking into consideration the unique circumstances and challenges presented by each patient. By tailoring the treatment to the specific needs of these cases, a more optimal outcome can be achieved. This is well demonstrated by the case provided by Dr. Yaseen below that we invite you to review, comment on and bookmark. |
