Treatment of complex distal limb fracture
For this month’s Editor’s Pick, our editorial team has selected a complex distal limb fracture case posted by Mark Owen (FRCVS) in the Small animal fracture treatment group.
In such cases, selecting the optimal fixation techniques for the specific fracture configuration, along with diligent post-operative care and rehabilitation, is key to success. The patient, a 7 year old male neutered cat, presented with acute non-weight bearing thoracic limb lameness and deformity after sustaining traumatic injuries. Fracture stabilization surgery was performed using specialized techniques and implants. Post-operatively, the patient received additional supportive therapy to optimize outcomes.
