Unique Application of the Jaw-in-a-Day Technique in a Case of Trauma.
Mandibular reconstruction with a fibula free flap is often used for advanced oral malignancies, osteonecrosis, or benign tumors to restore function and appearance after segmental mandibulectomy. The “Jaw in a Day” (JIAD) technique enables immediate restoration of form and function with a fibula free flap, implants, and a temporary prosthesis. This case reports the unique use of the JIAD technique in a young female patient with a traumatic mandibular nonunion fracture and chronic osteomyelitis, demonstrating its efficacy in significantly enhancing her quality of life.
