Management of Superior Pole Patellar Osteochondrosis: A Case Report.
An 11-year-old girl presented with left knee pain after a fall. Imaging revealed bilateral superior osteochondrosis of the patella with a superimposed fracture of the superior third portion of the left patella. The patient underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the fracture. At the 1-year follow-up, imaging showed healing of the left patella fracture and near resolution of the osteochondrosis. There was minimal ossification and continued pain symptoms in the right knee during physical activity./r/nThis case highlights the presentation and subsequent management of a rare pediatric superior osteochondrosis of the patella, not previously accounted for in classification schemes.
